Buildbase Kawasaki completed their first official test of 2010 in Cartagena, Spain, with their official race suspension partner Bitubo.

John Laverty returned to action following a strong first season aboard the Kawasaki ZX10-R along with new superbike team mate Adam Jenkinson.

Laverty tested new parts from Cosworth engines, Pectel electronics and also new forks from Bitubo and said: “It’s been a big bonus being able to test abroad this year, all the new parts we tested were an improvement over 2009 and we now have a really good base setting in which to start the season with.”

Adam Jenkinson added: “It’s great to back out on the bike again, I concentrated on getting as many laps as possible before starting to test the new ideas but already we can tell that the new Bitubo fork is further improved over the 2009 version.”

Lee Jackson and Barry Burrell made their Superstock 1000cc debut for the team and Joel Morris made his Superstock 600cc debut.

All three riders clocked up over 160 laps each, ending the test with an excellent base setting and the confidence of setting some very competitive lap times throughout the coming season.

Team boss Stuart Hicken said: “This a been a very worthwhile test for the team, all the riders gelled very well together and had no problems settling into the team.

“We tested new parts from Cosworth, Pectel and Bitubo all of which performed very well indeed and the bikes were faultless throughout.

“We look forward to some UK testing before the 2010 season kicks off at Brands Hatch in April.”
