Richards rules out Croft comeback

Glen Richards has ruled out a BSB comeback at Croft after riding a stock road bike at the circuit today.

The HM Plant Honda star was sidelined by a broken femur at Knockhill in July but has had to accept that his bid to be back on track, just two month after the accident, is too much to expect.

He said: “I did 30 laps at Croft today on a standard road bike (Fireblade) and really enjoyed being back on a bike again.

“I was great into corners and out of them but where I really struggled was changing direction.

“I know Croft is still 10 days away, but realistically I’m just not going to be strong enough by then to do my job.

“I guess I’m lucky to be back on a road bike so soon but realistically, I’ll have to wait until Silverstone before I comeback  in a BSB race.”

Richards shared the Blade with Josh Brookes who was getting himself acquainted with the Croft circuit, which he’s only previously been to as a spectator.

He will make his racing debut at the track on September 13, his first meeting since July 19 at Mallory where he copped a two-event ban for triggering the controversial seven-rider pile-up.

Brookes said: “I’m really looking forward to coming back – especially now I’ve ridden the circuit. It’s fast and flowing and really suits my style.”
