Team Green road race

Kawasaki’s ‘Team Green’ has been in existence in the UK for well over 25 years but in recent years has primarily been focussed on off-road racing. But, from next year, Team Green will re-enter the world of tarmac racing for the coming season creating a single, easy to recognise racing brand for Kawasaki and its riders in the UK.

It’s part of a bigger Kawasaki commitment to road racing and an even greater involvement with the British Superbike Championship paddock.

Sales and Marketing Manager for Kawasaki Motors UK, Michael Johnstone explained: “It’s a logical next step for Kawasaki in the UK. Having previously employed this philosophy some years ago, we recognise the considerable benefits of this single-minded approach. It provides not just strong brand recognition but, as importantly, a clear point of focus for our teams and riders.”

“There will be a new support package for a chosen number of riders within the 2010 Junior Superstock class, building on our recent championship success in this class with Gearlink Kawasaki’s Jamie Hamilton (who clinched the title earlier this year).
The young guns will be competing in the recognised feeder class for British Supersport and, ultimately, BSB and beyond.

Although the final details of the Kawasaki Team Green Junior Superstock project are yet to be confirmed, Kawasaki’s racing coordinator, Ross Burridge said: “This year we have set out our stall in terms of young talent with support for Kristian Whatley in motocross and Jamie Hamilton in road racing. Both riders are young and talented, and both have won their respective Championships with the help and guidance of teams that are officially sponsored by Kawasaki Motors UK.

“Taking that forward in terms of Junior Superstock, we will be looking for ten young, talented riders with the potential to challenge for podiums and race wins.

“We will be offering chosen riders a machine and product support from a variety of respected racing partners at a vastly reduced cost to make the prospect of success that much more obtainable.

“Both Gearlink Kawasaki and MSS Colchester Kawasaki have pledged support and they will initially be building and setting the race machines up. After that, they will be on hand to make sure that the Kawasaki Team Green Junior Superstock machines and riders are in the best condition possible at every round.
