BSB: Richards happy with Silverstone return

Glen Richards made his comeback to BSB at Silverstone last weekend, just three months after suffering a broken femur at Knockhill.

The Aussie qualified 12th, 1.6s off Leon Camier’s blistering pole time but was only one second off team-mate Josh Brookes’ third place time and missed the final few minutes of Qualifying 2 to give his leg a rest.

He finished 13th in the first race but opted out of the second race – again to rest the leg – and said:

“I’m a bit sore now but I’m just happy to be here and having had the chance to get back on the bike again. I’ve not got enough muscle strength yet so I can’t change direction fast enough. I don’t have the power to move the bike around.

“But if I hadn’t ridden, then I would not have got any better. I’ve got a couple of weeks now before Oulton where I’ll be even stronger.

“I’m reasonably happy with my lap times but not my position. I’d not ridden the bike before I got to Silverstone and I had no idea what to expect and my target was just to get into the points (top 15). After this weekend I’ve a couple of weeks off till Oulton Park and I aim to finish the year stronger.
