BSB Mallory : Brogan enjoying Superbike outing

Reigning National Superstock champion Steve Brogan has been making steady progress so far this weekend at Mallory as he has his first Superbike outing since 2005.

Brogan, deputising for the injured Glen Richards at HM Plant Honda, only rode the bike for the first time on Wednesday when he took part in three 20-minute practice sessions at Mallory but was running as high as fourth on the opening day of free practice on Friday.

Constantly making changes to improve the set-up of the machine, Brogan dropped back to 11th on Saturday morning having gone the wrong way with suspension changes but proclaimed himself happy with his showing so far.

Speaking to MCN at Saturday lunchtime, the 28-year old said: “Each session we’ve been making steady progress but the changes we made after Friday didn’t work as we would have liked this morning and I lapped a bit slower so we’re going to revert back to the initial settings and give it a good go in this afternoon’s qualifying.”

“The Superbike’s a lot different to my Padgetts Superstock machine and although it was good to get out on the bike on Wednesday, we were out with all the track day riders so there was only so much we could learn.

“Like I say, we’ve been making steady progress though and I’m having great fun out there though. It’s fantastic to get the opportunity on the Superbike so I’ll be giving it best shot to get a decent result.”
