BSB Calendar- Why Brands?

Just seen the calendar for 2009. The series starts on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

Why is this circuit used now that it’s too short for today’s fastest bikes? Last year, there was more than one race result jeopardised by the front runners catching up with back markers.
