No one-bike rule for BSB in 2009

BSB won’t be adopting a one-bike per rider rule for 2009 according to Series Director Stuart Higgs.

HM Plant Honda and Rob Mac Racing are two teams that have already committed to have only one bike for each of their superbike riders, while teams like Crescent Suzuki, Airwaves Yamaha and MSS Kawasaki are already building two per rider.

Higgs said: “We have had one team manager suggesting the idea that one-bike-per-rider should become a rule but we have two groups, a Manufacturer’s Group and a Teams’ Group and neither suggested any need for change since when we sat down in September to discuss the 2009 regulations.

“Obviously at that time the financial situation wasn’t as bad as it is now, but people have already committed to purchase equipment so it’s difficult to change the rules at this stage.

“But if we see that it works for the teams running only one bike then we’ll have the discussion for the 2010 season.”
