Silverstone British Supersport: MAP Embassy Triumph ’09 future in doubt

1 of 1

British Supersport Championship leaders MAP Embassy Triumph has announced today that they have had their funding for the 2009 season withdrawn.

The majority funding from EFS Group that finances both the MAP Embassy car and bike projects has been revoked due to the company suffering ‘catastrophic financial losses’ this week.

The statement also stated that although a deal has already been struck to run Triumph next year, the team will not be looking into next season until they can find funding to run in next year’s campaign.

The statement went on to say:

“The team which is looking to retain the services of Embassy rider and permanent fixture Glen Richards, currently leading the Supersport Championship, can justifiably claim to prepare the World’s most competitive 675s in racing today.

“Team Manager Myles Scholfiled has already negotiated retainers for all team personnel and is confident of putting together the logistical and operational support required to continue to run the team in the same manner as the so far highly successful 2008.

“Myles will be approaching team sponsors MAP and Triumph this week in hope of securing significant support that could help persuade other interested parties onboard with cash assistance.

“Any interested sponsors can contact Team Manager Myles on 07970-888581 or myles@bluepencilwriter.co.uk.”

The news comes as a huge hammer blow to the team who are looking to tie up the Supersport Championship this weekend with Glen Richards leading the 600 standings by 46 points.
