MSS Discovery Kawasaki concentrating on ‘grunt’

MSS Discovery Kawasaki Team Owner Nick Morgan has stressed that Mallory Park this weekend won’t be about top speed, but all about ‘grunt’.

The Factory-backed Kawasaki team hasn’t been short of top end so far this season, but with the new stop-go nature of the Leicestershire circuit, the Team Boss says this weekend is all about initial drive out of the tight turns.

“There always were a few places where you got into a sort of stop-go regime at Mallory, even before the Edwina’s complex was introduced,” said Morgan.

“The tendency is always to go for peak power and top speed, but you just can’t use that here so we are concentrating on grunt to get the bikes out of the corners as quickly as possible.”

The team will be welcoming a familiar face into the team this weekend with James Haydon replacing the injured Stuart Easton in the team this weekend.

And to get the former BSB and WSB regular up to pace, the MSS Discovery Kawasaki squad had a quick shakedown at Mallory Park last week.

Haydon said: “I had a quick shakedown at Mallory and then another session at Brands Hatch recently just to get dialled in and to meet the team.

“The bikes are immaculate and I am motivated to repay the faith that the guys have placed in me.

“I’ll do my best to keep the seat of Stuart’s Ninja ZX-10R warm, ready for him to return to the team as soon as he’s fit again.”
