Oulton Park British Superbikes: James Ellison to continue working with new electronics

James Ellison is set to continue development with the electronics system on one of his two machines today before making a decision on which bike he’ll be using on race day.

Team Principal Shaun Muir told MCN that the team has spend the last two weeks working with the Pectel supported machine during tests at Mallory Park.

“We’ve been making small steps with the new electronics over the past two weeks,” said Muir.

“We’re just trying to dial in the traction and make the power response comfortable.

“It’s totally different to any electronics we’ve used in the past but we know we’re at the limit with the HRC kit and we hope the Pectel software will overtake it.”

The Hydrex Bike Animal Honda team isn’t the only Honda outfit to use Pi Pectel electronics.

Ten Kate Honda is World Superbikes also use the same electronics, but Muir said it’s not a case of them getting the same data.

He said: “They can’t tell us entirely what is being used by Ten Kate but they can give us guidance.

“Pectel has been a great help, and hopefully James will be really happy with it soon enough and we can try it in a race situation.”

Muir also commented on his other rider, Guy Martin, who finally took a chequered flag on the roads with a win at the Southern 100.

“Guy has a win under his belt now so hopefully that will set him up for the rest of the season,” added Muir.
