British Superbikes Almeria test: Michael Laverty talks superbike step up

MCN caught up with last year’s British Supersport champion Michael Laverty at the Almeria circuit during the three-day Pirelli test.

Stepping up to a Suzuki GSX-R1000 from the 600 version with the Relentless squad, Michael Laverty seemed happy with his early progress.

“The first day of testing is all about ironing out the little teething problems with the new bike.

“I’m feeling happy so far, the bike feels pretty good even with a base setting.”

One of the changes Laverty has had to deal with to change back to riding a Superbike is his riding style.

“I’m just getting my head around picking the bike up again and then accelerating on the flat part of the tyre rather than using the corner speed like on a supersport bike.”
