Brands Hatch British Superbikes: Michael Laverty and Relentless Suzuki's electronic demons

1 of 1

Relentless Suzuki’s Michael Laverty is finding it difficult to replicate his outstanding form in pre-season testing at the British Superbike season opener due to an electronics issue.

The current British Supersport champion caused the factory Rizla Suzuki outfit a few problems at the official Pirelli tests in Spain with some impressive times that were better than the Crescent teams.

But Michael Laverty told MCN a problem with electronics is holding him back this weekend.

“We’ve got a slight problem with the engine-braking electronics – it keeps making me run to deep into corners,” Laverty said.

“The last thing you really want is something making you run too deep into Paddock Hill.

“We’ll see how we get on this afternoon in qualifying, but we might end up using as little electronics as possible.

“It’s quite frustrating because we haven’t changed the electronics from Spain; we’re running the same maps and settings as we have during testing but it doesn’t seem to be working here.

“We’re also using new forks this weekend so it’s a case of getting used to them after using stock ones throughout testing.”
