British Superbikes Donington Park: Tom Sykes scores first BSB pole of career at Donington Park
Stobart Honda rider Tom Sykes will start tomorrow’s races at Donington Park from pole position.
Sykes, in his rookie year in British Superbikes, posted an impressive 1.30.901, the only rider to dip below the 1.30 maker.
Sykes will lead the front row from a resurgent Chris Walker on the Rizla Suzuki, Leon Haslam on the Airwaves 999 Ducati, and defending champion Ryuichi Kiyonari.
HM Plant Honda rider Kiyonari could repeat his championship win of last year tomorrow if results go his way, which will be made all the more special by the fact it’s the Japanese riders 25th birthday.
The second row will be lead by Chris Walker’s Rizla Suzuki team-mate Cal Crutchlow ahead of Shakey Byrne, Jonathan Rea and Gregorio Lavilla, meaning the front two rows will be made up of four teams.
Tomorrow’s BSB races kick off provisionally at 12.45 and 16.45 and for all the latest keep your eyes on www.motorcyclenews.com.
