British Superbikes Donington Park: Michael Laverty on British Supersport pole

1 of 1

Relentless Suzuki’s Michael Laverty is looking to continue his great form in this year’s British Supersport championship tomorrow from the best possible position, on pole.

Laverty recorded a best time of 1.36.627, just over a tenth of a second faster than the next fastest man Tom Grant on the Virgin Yamaha YZF-R6.

Michael Laverty’s team-mate Ian Lowry will start from the opposite end of the front row, beaten into third by close championship rival Dennis Hobbs who is recovering from a broken collarbone at Cadwell Park last time out.

Billy McConnell put his R6 Virgin Yamaha at the front of the second row ahead of championship newcomer James Webb on the MSS Discovery Kawasaki, who is in only his second race for the team after moving up from the R6 Cup.

Tomorrow’s race kicks off at 10.15.
