Richards takes Superstock ride

Glen Richards took a 300-mile round trip from his home near Hinckley up to Croft to run in the new Yamaha R1 he’s racing in this year’s National Superstock series.

This exercise was carried out after signing to do the full season of the series with Embassy Racing on Yamaha R1s.

Out of work after a year with Hydrex Honda in BSB, the Aussie said:
“I couldn’t just sit around waiting for a ride so I’m going to race full-time in Superstock.

“I always want to win no matter what class I ride in so this is a proper go at the championship. I’m really happy with my deal.”

Richards’ bikes are being prepared by John Trigger, the pair of them having worked together at Hawk Kawasaki.

Richards said: “I know I’m going to have the best bike on the grid, I’m on the same tyres as everyone else so if I’ve no excuses. If I lose then I’ll have to take a long look in the mirror.”

Richards isn’t dismissing the chance of a return to BSB should he be asked to substitute for an injured rider.

He added: “Superstock is only one race in a weekend so if the opportunity came up to ride Superbike again, then I’m sure I could do both.”

Richards is also racing for the Phase One Yamaha team in the World Endurance Championship.
