British Superbikes: Atsushi Watanabe's first Rizla Suzuki ride

Japanese superbike champion Atsushi Watanabe is testing the Rizla Suzuki at Calafat, Spain, along with new team-mate Tom Sykes this week.

The team are starting their third and final day at the 3.25km Spanish track today (Thursday), hoping the blustery high winds that have plagued them for two days will die down.

Team manager Jack Valentine said: “The first day was just a shakedown, allowing both riders to learn the track and to get Atsushi comfortable on the bike.

“Yesterday we worked on a new engine setting for Atsushi and came up with something he likes and a base chassis setting.

“Tom has already tested at Mallory and found a good base set-up there so we were working fine-tuning his engine management yesterday to suit him further.”
