BSB: Rule changes announced after Silverstone

1 of 1

MCE British Superbike bosses have announced a number of rule changes following the difficult Silverstone round last week.

Inclement conditions posed a significant challenge for both riders and race bosses at the Northamptonshire track with the opening race held with half of the 3.6mile circuit very wet and the other half bone dry.

Given the safety questions raised about this sort of scenario, with some riders concerned about competitors opting for slicks when parts of the track were in no way suitable for dry tyres, the rules have been changed that in certain circumstances race direction can enforce the use of rain tyres in certain conditions.

Another rule change instigated after Silverstone is that should a race be stopped under safety car conditions, if the safety car was deployed before two thirds distance then the race will be restarted.
