Roczen wins again as Reed causes controversy
Ken Roczen has made it two from the AMA Supercross championship’s visits to Anaheim this year, winning the third round of the series to make it two from three so far for the German. But the real buzz of the race was instead behind him, with legend of the sport Chad Reed causing controversy with his on-track actions.
Roczen won in dominant style, first making his way to the lead on the opening lap before disappearing clear of the field to take a multiple second lead to the chequered flag.
Speaking afterwards, he said: “That was an awesome race. I fought hard the whole way. It was a tricky tack but I was able to get a good start, get into the lead early and ride my own race. I’m so happy.”
However, the real drama happened on lap seven, when Honda rider Trey Canard mistimed a jump and landed heavily on Aussie Reed, taking the pair down. Remounting, Reed then immediately retaliated for the move, bashing Canard off the track and off his bike a second time.
Reed was subsequently black-flagged for the move, but remained unrepentant on Twitter after the decision.
Ive always worn my heart on my sleeve 2 wrongs don’t make a right But I’ve never and will never take getting landed on from behind lightly
