Toseland on the pace in Suzuka Free Practice

James Toseland has made a solid start to his Suzuka 8-hour campaign by setting the third fastest time in today’s Free Practice session. Toseland’s lap time was good enough to secure the sixth overall with first qualifying beginning tomorrow.

Toseland riding with BSB’s Ryuichi Kiyonari completed three sessions in varying track conditions ranging from fully dry to fully wet with an intermediate track conditions at the end of the day.

The two biggest things the current WSB series leader had to contend with was the amount of traffic at the circuit and the scorching temperatures and high humidity. The conditions were so hot that in a single nine lap stint Toseland lost 0.5kg.

The fastest time of the day went to the Yoshimura Suzuki pairing of Yukio Kagayama and Kosuke Akiyoshi with Katsuyuki Nakasuga on the Yamaha taking second spot. The Honda number two team of Carlos Checa and Tady Okada took third place.
