Kiyo secures BSB title

Ryuichi Kiyonari has secured the British Superbike title by just eight points after the final round at Brands Hatch.

The Japanese rider took his Honda to the win in the first race leaving him only needing a third place in race two for the title win. And despite Leon Haslam’s best efforts Kiyo took second place and sealed the championship.

The racing was dramatic with downpours shaking things up. The first race was red flagged for rain after just four laps then again after Shayne Byrne high-sided out at Druids.

The second race saw Haslam go all out for the win and his only chance of stealing the title away from Kiyo. But despite being 8 seconds in the lead when Tommy Hills crash saw the red flags come out, Kiyo’s second place put him eight points in the lead and gave him the title.
