BLOG: WSB in the office!

Another odd day at MCN, where the office carries on as normal, despite there being two factory World Superbike stars mooching around…
Our WSB reporter Michael Guy is in the middle of putting together our Silverstone WSB preview supplement that’s free with next week’s paper. The cover shot is a moody picture of James Toseland, very much in keeping with his current extreme-focus, man-on-a-mission mindset, which meant getting him into our offices for a photo shoot.
Chris Walker was here too, with his girlfriend Rachel who you’ll no doubt have seen wielding a brolly at races, so you end up with the bizarre and slightly surreal sight of full-on WSB stars in full leathers, plus full-on ‘stunna’, wandering around the offices amid people hard at work and sometimes unaware that stood right behind them are two of racing’s most famous riders.
James is much improved after his ugly Monza crash, a visit to a top chiropractor having pinpointed several areas that needed tweaking after he baled off at 115mph headfirst into the gravel.
He also mentioned that as ‘punishment’ for having been featured – completely naked – in the current issue of Cosmopolitan, he was forced to endure a night at one of the fashion mag’s model parties. It apparently featured “wall to wall, Premier League” guests – who were almost all female, of course.
As we’ve said many times before, it’s a tough life being a racer.
