RC set for final title

Ricky Carmichael looks set to finish his legendary career on a high note as he closes in on the AMA Motocross title.

Carmichael took his sixth-straight win on 2006, and his 141st in AMA competitions on Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood Colorado. And with five rounds to go, he leads the championship by 69 points.

The American Supercross and Motorcross star took the overall win for Makita Suzuki, from Honda’s Davi Millsaps and Kawasaki’s James Stewart. Yamaha’s Chad Reed took eighth place. In the Lites class, Ryan Villopoto won from Broc Hepler and Mike Alessi.
