Euro glory for Brits

Young British riders have all tasted recent success as the European Road race, trails and Motocross championships get underway.

In the 250cc European Road Race Championship meeting held at Vallelunga in Italy, 18-year-old Dan Linfoot won his first race with a lead of seven seconds, despite it being his first time at the track. This followed his impressive performance as a wildcard at the British GP in July 2005, when he scored ninth place in a wet two-part race. Also scoring points in Europe were Luke Lawrence with 12th and Alex Kenchington with 13th. The next round is at Rijeka, Croatia on June 17-18, 2006.

In the European Trial Championship round at Nirgan in Spain, 19-year-old James Dabill took second place on April 1, and then 11th in the FIm Wolrd Championship event on April 2 at the same venue. Michael Brown als took part in the European round with 6th place, and in the Junior Championship Alex Wigg took second, Ross Danby sixth, Lee Sampson eighth, Sam Haslam 11th and Richard Ellwood 12th. The second round take place at Mortagua in Portugal on April 8, 2006.

And in 125cc European Motocross, Lews Gregory, aged 20, took fifth place overall at the round at Castelnau de Levis. Gregory took the result by finishing in the top five in both races, and returns to England for the British Motocross Round at Canada Heights in Kent on April 9, before returning to European action on April 22-23 in Italy.
