Britton dies in Irish race

Top Irish road racer Richard Britton has died following an accident in the 250cc event at the Ballybunion races on Sunday, September 18, 2005.

The 34-year-old rider from Enniskillen was a double Irish and Ulster road race champion, and the winner of the production race at the North West 200 in 2000. He was also a podium finisher at the Isle of Man TT..

The accident occurred on the first lap of the 250cc event.

Britton is survived by wife Maria and son Loris.
