Knight is Enduro champ
Britain’s David Knight has won the 2005 Enduro 3 World Champion at the penultimate round of the series at Serres in Greece.
Knight has dominated the championship, and has won at seven of the eight rounds so far. In Greece on Sunday, he started cautiously but was still able to build up a commanding lead by the midway point, and to lead by close to one-minute at the end of the first day.
The second day saw Knight fall on the enduro test on his second lap, but hold onto to a 40-second lead at the finish from Team Farioli team-mate Marko Tarkkala.
“It’s great to have won with one round to go because it means I can have some fun in Italy,” said Knight. “Since I was a kid I have always wanted to be world champion. This season has been the hardest year of my life in many ways, as well as the season that I finally realised my dream of winning the championship. Losing my father made me work harder than ever, especially during the second half of this year. I promised the ol’ man that I would win the title, so this one’s for him.”
“I want to thank everyone that has helped and supported me this season. Not only KTM, my team and all the team sponsors, but everyone that has support me.”
