Three new race series aimed at riders between 12 and 23 years of age will run next season with a race bike prize for each overall winner.

The ACU Star Championships aim to bridge the gap between club racing and the British championship, with three classes of bike. It’s a five round championship with a grand final incorporated into the Silverstone round of British Superbikes on September 8-10, 2006.

The classes are:

Formula 125 machines: 70-125cc production-based machines, including 80cc Metrakit type machines on treaded tyres. Riders between 12-17 years of age on March 1, 2006.

125 Grand Prix Racing Solo’s: 101cc-125cc slick tyres with certain engine restrictions. Riders between 13-23 years of age on March 1, 2006.

600cc Junior Superstock: For 600cc four-stroke/four cylinder and 750cc four-stroke/two cylinder machines to Superstock specifications, likely to run on control tyres. Riders between 16 and 23 years on March 1, 2006.

The prize for each of the two 125cc class Champions will be a 2007 125cc Grand Prix bike, and the Junior Superstock Champion will receive a 2007 Stocksport machine.

April 8, 2006. Oulton park

April 17, 2006. Mallory Park.

May 6, 2006. Cadwell Park

June 10, 2006. Castle Combe

July 30, 2006. Darley Moor.
