Kiyo returns to form

The results were split between the HM Plant Honda and Airwaves Ducati riders at Mondello Park with both teams taking a 1-2.

Riyuichi Kiyonari took the win in the first race, ahead of his team-mate Michael Rutter, in his first race back after knocking himself out at Mallory Park four weeks ago.

Third place fell to Ducati rider Gregorio Lavilla with Honda UK rider Karl Harris taking fourth ahead of Scott Smart and Michael Laverty.

Race two saw the turn of the Ducatis. Kiyonari looked like he was about to walk of with the win again until Ducati rider Leon Haslam stormed up to take the lead from third place in one fell swoop.

But team-mate Lavilla was also on a charge, storming through the pack and immediately pulling out a lead on his team-mate as soon as he got passed.

Haslam eventually took second ahead of Kiyonari, Laverty Rutter, Richards, Harris and Smart.

Pole sitter Johnathan Rea had a bad day. He was knocked out of race one by Michael Rutter and then had to retire from the second race with mechanical problems putting a damp end to what was a great weekend for the Ulster rider.
