BSB: Kiyonari double

Ryuichi Kiyonari has done the double at the opening round of the British Superbike championship at Brands Hatch, winning both races convincingly.

The HM Plant Honda rider was only knocked of pole position by a last minute lap from Leon Haslam on Sunday but the Ducati rider posed no threat in the races, retiring on the first lap in race one and finishing fourth in race two, leaving Kiyonari to dominate.
Gregorio Lavilla made up for his GSE Ducati team-mate’s retirement taking second place in the first race and third in race two behind the second HM Plant Honda piloted by Michael Rutter. Glen Richards proved that the Kawasaki’s will still be a force to be reckoned with this year taking the thrid place on the podium in race one and seventh in race two. Jeremy McWilliams made a dissapointing return to the championship with a seventh in the first race and crash in the second as he tangled with a backmarker.
Current champion John Reynolds got a solid result despite riding injured taking two ninth place finishes. The result means that he stands a far better chance of holding onto his title this year.
