Huge crowd at wet GP

1 of 1

The crowds have not been put off by the damp weather at the British GP at Donington Park with early estimates showing that at least 75,000 people turned out.

Rain soaked the track throughout the day making for some very exciting racing in all classes with the lead 250 riders lapping up to ninth place and only 11 riders finishing in MotoGP.

Even if they were soaked through the fans seemed to thoroughly enjoy the event with huge rounds fo applause going up for Shane Byrne and James Ellison when the damp conditions got the better of them, and a massed track invasion taking place after the end of the MotoGP race.

Despite the large number of people attending the event there were few ques to get in and the police didn’t make a huge show of their presence. And with new traffic management systems in place at thecircuit the huge exit ques of the last few years should hopefully be a thing of the past.

If you went to the GP and managed to take some pictures without the camera getting soaked then why not send them to us by clicking here. Tell us how much you enjoyed the day and the best pics will go up on the site on Monday.
