Dakar heads South

1 of 1

After the excitement of the opening day of the 2005 Paris-Dakar Rally, the competitiors face a long, but non-competitive trip from Barcelona to Granada in Spain.

The day begins with a podium presentation of every competitor with the opportunity to bid farewell to friends and family, before beginning a 920km journey almost entirely on motorways. The only break is a stopover in Castellon for a check point and lunch, before arriving at the southern tip of Spain in Granada.

The current leader in the overall standings is David Fretigne after his victory on day one of the rally.
