Sheene Run moves in 06

1 of 1

The 2006 Sheene Run has been switched from Rugby town centre to Oliver’s Mount, near Scarborough. And you can also join in a 1400-mile ride across Europe to remember the legend.

The annual celebration of the life of Barry Sheene will be run as part of Scarborough’s International Bike Week for the next three years.

Sheene enjoyed many battles on the track at Oliver’s Mount and returned in 1996 for the circuit’s 50th anniverdary.

If you join in the 2006 Sheene Run you get to ride around the Olivers Mount Circuit. The International Bike Week finishes with the Barry Sheene Classic Superbike Race at the Cock O’ the North meeting. (International Bike Week details here (external site)

But there’s also the Barry Sheene Memorial Motorcycle Challenge to consider – and that starts at Brands Hatch on June 17, tours Europe and ends at Assen on June 25 in time for the Dutch GP.

It is aimed at raising cash for CLIC, the charity Sheene supported, and costs £195 to take part – providing you raise a further £1995 in sponsorship. More details at www.clicsargent.org.uk
