Lavilla heads 1-2

1 of 1

Gregorio Lavilla has lead an Airwave Ducati 1-2 in the first race at Silverstone British Superbikes after both HM Plant Hondas fell and restarted.

Lavilla started poorly falling from third on the grid to eighth, but he wasted no time in getting back to the front where his team-mate Leon Haslam was chasing HM Plant’s Michael Rutter for the lead.

Haslam messed up an attempt at the lead and fell back behind Lavilla and it wasn’t long before the Spaniard had taken the lead.

Rutter tried to get passed again but he lost the front during the move and slid off the track. He restarted but only managed to get back to 15th.

Rutter’s team-mate suffered the same fate after losing the front but was a little better at fighting back finishing in eighth after dropping back to last place.

John Reynolds was upgraded to the final podium slot thanks to Rutters fall.

The race was restarted early on after an incident that saw Karl Harris, Michael Laverty and Ben Bostrom crash out. Laverty and Bostrom were stopped from restarting but Harris was back on the grid for the second half and managed to take fourth place.
