Hill conquers Combe race

The Superbike Grand National took place on July 31, 2005, with over 20,000 people turning up to watch Tommy Hill take a double victory for the Vrgin Mobile Yamaha squad.

In race one Ollie Bridewell led away from the grid before being hunted down by Hill and Karl Harris. As the race continued Hill and Harris continued their battle followed by Steve Plater and Jonathan rea when the race was stopped on lap eight for a serious oil spill.

Race two was extended to twenty laps but lasted only two when the red flag was built out following a collision between Rea and Hill. The 18-lap restart saw Hill fighting with Richard Wren, befoer Karl Harris moved up to second. And there was a fantastic result for James Buckingham who took third on his Rizla Suzuki debut, ahead of regular team rider James Haydon and fifth place finisher Richard Wren.
