Kiyonari on BSB pole

1 of 1

Ryuich Kiyonari has taken pole position for the final round of the British Superbike championship at Donington Park.

The HM Plant Honda rider beat Sean Emmett’s Ducati to the top spot by almost a second, with Kiyonari’s team-mate Michael Rutter taking his Fireblade to third place. Glen Richards took the final place on the front row of the grid on his Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Championship leader John Reynolds spent the qualifying sessions trying to get the best setup for his bike and only managed to get out on qualifying tyres in the closing minutes of the session. He got held up by traffic however and only clocked a best time that was a second slower than Kiyonari.

John McGuinness and Dean Thomas took sixth and seventh fastest times followed by Reynolds team-mate Yukio Kagayama in eighth.
