Moto1 this weekend

The first-ever Moto1 event takes place this weekend, October 30/31, at Donington Park, challenging 24 top British racers to find an overall champion.

The 24 stars (see link right), will compete in road racing, motocross, trials and supermoto, hoping to collect the £6000 top prize. In addition to the racing, there are also displays by the Purple Helmets, a classic parade featuring riders like former world championship John Kidson and Bill Smith, and a World Long Jump record attempt.

There will also be a paddock display, Moto1 rider autograph sessions, trade exhibitions, freestyle motocross jumping and the chance to try trials riding.

The even also has manufacturer support, with more than 100 machines being supplied for the riders by Honda, Husaberg, Gas Gas, KTM, Montesa, Scorpa, Sherco, Suzuki, TM and Yamaha.

Moto1 takes place at Donington Park, and runs from 9am-4.30pm on Saturday October 30 and Sunday October 31. Tickets are available, here. The action will also be screened on the Sky Sports channel at 5pm on November 17.
