Brands witness appeal

North Kent police are appealing for witnesses to the crash which ended the Superstock race at the British Superbike meeting at Brands Hatch on Sunday, June 20, 2004.

The incident occurred on the first lap of the race, which was scheduled to start at 16.35pm. As the front-runners reached Pilgrim’s Drop on the Brands Hatch GP circuit, five riders were involved in the pile-up. Darren Mitchell, 31, was airlifted to Maidstone Hopsital but later died from his injuries.

North Kent Police ask that anyone who witnessed the incident contact the co-ordinating officer, Damien Lower, on 01474 565188.
