Name your daughter after your bike

British superbike star Yukio Kagayama is being urged to name his daughter after the Suzuki he races.

On Saturday (April 3) we revealed how Kagayama’s wife had given birth to his second daughter and that the couple were struggling to come up with a name (see link, right for our original story).

And Kagayama turned to you for help. By far the most popular suggestions so far have been names derived from Suzuki.

” What about naming her Sue-Zuki? (a good, appropriate mix of English and Japanese names?!) The bike manufacturer will be particularly happy… ” offered Dave Hope, from London.

” How about Zuki, ” asked Al from Dewsbury. And there were many more on a similar theme, including Suzi and Suki.

But others thought naming your daughter after a bike might not be ideal…

Rival suggestions included: Whispering Sky, Camilla, Kusara and, from Dominic Poynter, in a reference to Kagayma’s big crash last season, ” Lucky ” (that she’s still got a Dad!).

One Anglo-Japanese couple wrote: ” We’d like to suggest the same name as our daughter. My Japanese wife and I have been living here in Japan for the last three years, and our daughter’s now two years and three months old.

” Her name’s AYANO ABIGAIL – we’d decided to give her both English and Japanese first names, as we may well be resident in Japan for some time to come!, ” from James, Sumie and Ayano Worth.

Marcus, offered these Japanese names, together with their English translations…

Akiko: meaning = Bright light, Kioko: meaning = Happy child, Keiko; meaning = adored one.

And from Tony Smith comes: Akito, Dajira (after his good friend), Kaimura, Kona, Cosima, Tushima.

Others we’ve received so far include Kozue, Sabrina, Sakura, Kion and Kiri.
