Kagayama wants to win for ‘Nana’

Rizla Suzuki rider Yukio Kagayama has a special reason for wanting to win at Snetterton this weekend – he’s settled on a name for his new daughter and he wants to dedicate a victory to her.

Kagayama asked motorcyclenews.com users to help him find a name for his daughter. He sifted through your many suggestions and considered them all carefully, but in the end he’s plumped for Nana.

” It translates as ‘seven’, ” said a spokesman for the team. ” It’s his favourite number and the number he would be running in the UK if it wasn’t for his respect for Barry Sheene. ”

For Japanese-name-translation-completists, Yukio means ‘Get Lucky Once’ and ‘Nana’ can also be translated as ‘Sunflower’.

Team-mate John Reynolds leads the British Superbike title charge into the Snetterton round this weekend. He has won two races and scored two podium thirds in the four races so far this season leaving him just one point ahead of Michael Rutter on a Honda.

Superbike racing kicks off at 1:15pm on Sunday, April 25 at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk. You can follow it live on Sky Sports on the day or on BBC Grandstand the following week in a highlights programme.

Look out for MCN’s Babe Squad at Snetterton. They’ll be offering to take your picture with them and taking your contact details so they can send you the pictures, free of charge, next week.
