Red Bull Rookies in British Supersport

Honda Racing and Red Bull will field a British Supersport team in addition to their 125cc championship effort in 2004.

The Red Bull Rookies Honda Racing team will field one Honda CBR600RR alongside Honda Racing’s existing champion Karl Harris. The rider for 2004 will be Jonathan Rea. The 16-year-old rider from Ballyclare in Ireland moves up from the National 125cc championship. He has also tested Karl Harris’ CBR600RR at Cadwell Park.

The two riders of the 125cc bikes are yet to be announced.

The three-year deal between Honda Racing and Red Bull was at the NEC Show in Birmingham. It’s Red Bull’s ninth season in the BSB series.

Honda Racing boss Neil Tuxworth said: ” The team structure is in place and Red Bull Rookies Honda Racing will run alongside Honda Racing from its headquarters in Louth Lincolnshire. ”
