Byrne on pole at Oulton Park

The fourth round of the British Superbike championship at Oulton Park sees yet another pole position for the unstoppable Shane Byrne.

The Monstermob Ducati rider, who currently has a 41 point lead in the championship, finished first in Sunday morning’s qualifying session with a time of 1:36.859 and went on to take the Superpole, improving his time by three tenths of a second.

John Reynolds joined Byrne in second place in both qualifying and Superpole knocking a second off his own qualifying time to finish just 0.379 seconds behind Byrne in the Superpole.

Renegade Ducati rider Michael Rutter knocked 0.8 seconds off his qualifying time to leave him in third place on the grid while Dean Ellison put in a stunning performance, loosing 1.2 seconds to round off the front row of the grid with a 1:37.480.

Steve Hislop started the day well on his Yamaha R1 with a third place qualifying time of 1:37.929 but despite cutting his time by 0.2 seconds he finished Superpole in fifth followed by Rizla Suzuki rider Yukio Kagayama who also dropped a place.

Gary mason and John Crawford finish off the front row of the grid with Honda Racing riders Steve Plater and Mark Heckles filling the next tow spaces.

Sean Emmett took his Renegade Ducati to 11th place followed by Lee Jackson who was the only rider not to improve his time.
