Reed defeats Carmichael in AMA Supercross

Championship rivals Chad Reed and Ricky Carmichael went head-to-head in today’s AMA Supercross race, with Australian Reed coming out on top and reducing his championship deficit.

The battle lasted for five laps of the 25 lap race, until championship leader Ricky Carmichael found himself landing on a hay bale after a triple jump.

This allowed Reed to take the victory, with Carmichael taking second after remounting in fifth place. Third went to Ernesto Fonseca, claiming his first podium of the year.

The 125cc victory went to Brandon Jesseman, in an eventful race. Crashes included front-runners Michael Brown, Brock Sellards and Kelly Smith. KTM’s Steve Boniface hung on for second place, ahead of the two early fallers, Brown and Smith.
