Jay Kay rolls up with £40,000 Rizla

Jamiroqui front man, Jay Kay, famous as much for his big hats and a love of fast cars as he is for his music, has been persuaded to make the transition to two wheels by the Rizla Suzuki BSB team.

The musician is joined by actress and model Lisa Barbuscia in supporting the team throughout the season, turning up to championship rounds to cheer on riders John Reynolds and Yukio Kagayama.

Despite the fact that neither celeb has ever ridden before, Suzuki decided to give them both Rizla replica bikes. But the deal is a little one sided.

Jay Kay will receive a £40,000 GSX-R1000 that has tuned by the team to put out 175bhp and top 200mph.

Barbuscia, on the other hand, will get a replica of the Suzuki AY50 scooter that Reynolds and Kagayama will be using to get around the paddock.

Both Jay and Lisa have already passed their CBTs but Jay will go on to do a Direct Access course later this month after training from Reynolds and Kagayama on how to handle the bike. If he enjoys riding the road bike the team has also promised him he’ll get to ride the full £100,000 race bike at the end of the season.

Kay said: ” You couldn’t get a better combination than Rizla, Suzuki and me. I’ve used king-size blue Rizla for years. But it is the performance that attracts me though. I love speed and I love fast cars. Now I can’t wait to get my motorcycle test and get riding. ”
