Hislop dropped by Virgin Yamaha

Steve Hislop has been sacked for the second time since becoming British champ and MotoGP-hopeful Chris Burns will take over the vacant R1.

Virgin Yamaha Team boss Rob McElnea said: ” Hizzy and I sat down after Rockingham and agreed things haven’t been working out and decided on an amicable parting. The bottom line is that Steve is not happy on the R1. ”

Burns is ” over the moon ” to get a regular ride after a season in the doldrums with the WCM MotoGP team. He’ll still continue to ride the GP bike though, as there are no clashing dates in the second half of the season.

After the news broke Hislop went to ground at his Isle of Man home and wasn’t taking any calls.
