Vincent joins Virgin Yamaha at Oulton

British 250GP star Jay Vincent will ride for the Virgin Mobile Yamaha team at round nine of the British Superbike championship at Oulton Park this weekend.

Vincent rode for the Cibertel Honda Team in 250cc GPs in 2002, but was left without a ride for this season.

The Virgin team had planned for MotoGP rider Chris Burns to join them from round eight at Mondello Park, but Burns has yet to regain full fitness from a crash at the British GP in July.

” I’ve tested the bike twice and it’s really good, ” said 30-year-old Vincent. ” I was surprised with the corner speed. This is the first time I’ve raced a four-cylinder Superbike, so it will be a steep learning curve, but I’m looking forward to it. ”
