Title is almost in reach for Hizzy

Steve Hislop moved closer to taking the MCN British Superbike title today when he took pole position for tomorrows final races at MCN Donington Park.

Hislop’s time of 1:31.627 put him four places ahead of Sean Emmett, his rival for the championship. Emmett, riding the Yamaha R1 for the final part of the season, has a lot of work to do as he starts behind reigning champion John Reynolds and Renegade Ducati duo Shane Byrne and Michael Rutter.

Emmett shares the second row with Paul Brown, Glen Richards and Dean Ellison, but is unlikely to take advantage of team orders as the Virgin Yamahas of Steve Plater and Simon Crafar are in thirteenth and fourteenth respectively.
