North West 200 results

A run of bad luck scuppered Michael Rutter’s chances of improving on his tally of 11 race wins at the North West 200 this weekend, handing victory in the superbikes to David Jefferies.

Rutter, the pre-race favourite had topped qualifying before he tumbled off, twice. Ironically it was the damp conditions that did for the renowned wet weather guru.

The crashes will also make for some very late nights this week as his Renegade racing mechanics struggle to repair his broken Ducati 998 in time for the Snetterton BSB round on May 26.
