Rutter rules Rockingham

1 of 1

Michael Rutter claimed a double victory at Rockingham, proving that he can be as successful in the dry as he is in the wet.

His race one victory came ahead of championship rivals Steve Hislop and Sean Emmett, with Shane Byrne in fourth, Dean Thomas fifth, and John Reynolds sixth.

Reynolds had a problem with grip from his rear tyre, whilst Emmett was happy with third due to a slight oil leak. Steve Plater was lucky to escape uninjured after a massive highside on lap two.

The second race went the way of Rutter, with Sean Emmett promoted to second and Dean Thomas third. Steve Hislop came fourth after running straight on at Kirby when running with the leading group. Shane Byrne was fifth, and Glen Richards sixth.

Plater continued his run of bad luck, exiting race two, along with teammate Simon Crafar, and John Reynolds, whose engine stopped on lap three at the first chicane.
