Steve Parrish has retired from European Truck Racing. The former GP racer won five European and five British Championships during his 17 years with Atkins Racing.

Parrish, 47, said, ” It will only sink in when I’m not on the grid at the first race. I am delighted to stay involved with Team Castrol Atkins as a consultant on the build and set-up of this year’s Mercedes truck”.

Terry Rymer, 35, takes his seat.

Rymer was 1999 World Endurance Champion and a regular British superbike star.

Terry said: “I’m really excited to work with Team Castrol Atkins this year. I’ve enjoyed Championship title success with Castrol in motorcycles and I’m sure we will do the same again in trucks.”

Rymer said: ” The lines you take in a racing truck are similar to those on a bike.”

Parrish and Rymer have a long association. “Terry rode for my Yamaha team in the late 70s and we’ve raced cars together” said Parrish.
