Sweden will join Australia in the speedway world cup final at Peterborough on Saturday.

The Swedes, led by world individual champion Tony Rickardsson, cruised past Denmark, Finland and Hungary at Poole, Dorset on Monday night.

Rickardsson, who rides league speedway for Poole, won all five rides as Sweden finished on 55 points, 14 clear of the Danes.

Finland was third on 32, with Hungary scoring 19 points.

The final qualifying round takes place at Eastbourne’s Arlington Stadium tonight, August 6, with Poland, the United States, Russia and Slovenia in action.

The Swedes and Aussies will be joined in the final by the winner of that meeting.

The top two teams from a semi-final at Peterborough on Thursday, which will feature the best losers from the qualifiers, will also go to the final.
