It’s not always been plain-sailing for the British bike company, but Triumph now boasts a range that competes with – or beats – the very best from any other manufacturer, on any continent.

An incredible commitment to R&D, mixed with razor-sharp market analysis, and a singular clarity of purpose has resulted in very few deviations or missed turns on their path back to true global significance. This collection serves up road tests, with video, on six of the finest.

Most riders will have a story involving a Triumph. The brand has been an influential part of biking’s jigsaw for longer than any of us have been alive, and even if you’ve never owned one, they’ll have played some tangential part in your biking life.

Triumph’s history hasn’t been without its bumpy patches. Much like any business that tried to navigate the shark-infested waters of the 1970s bike industry, Meriden Triumph got terminally bitten by bad management, market conditions and an inability to move with the times. But salvation, in the form of John Bloor and the team he put together in order to resurrect Triumph, was waiting not too far around the corner.

We chart the rise and fall and rise again of one of the world’s most important bike firms, look at the people, projects and platforms that have come define the modern era – and, of course, the bikes. Even Guy Martin and James Bond get a look-in!

It’s a genuinely fascinating story. Jump right in!
